Smithfield Foods receives consent of the Polish Antimonopoly Authority for Pini Polonia acquisition

Referring to earlier information, we inform that Smithfield Foods Inc. has received approval of the Polish Antimonopoly Authority /the President of the Office for Competition and Consumers Protection for purchase of remaining shares of Pini Polonia company.

Finalization of transaction will take place within coming weeks.

Acquisition of Pini Polonia will complete Smithfield Poland with a very important link in supply chain, providing fresh meat to Animex Foods processing plants as well as other recipients. It will capitalize existing Animex opportunity to compete in the European market as a world class consumer packaged goods and protein company.
