Smithfield signing “letter of intent” to acquire meat processing facilities of Pini Group

Warsaw, March 28, 2017 – Smithfield Group, controlling Animex Foods, one of the largest food producers in Poland specializing in production of fresh meat, processed meat products and agricultural activity has entered into a non-binding letter of intent to acquire meat processing facilities of Pini Group.
Acquired companies – Pini Polska and Hamburger Pini operate two new state of art facilities with modern equipment and lines for production of high quality processed products.
Acquisition of assets from Pini Group will strengthen Smithfield Group vertically integrated supply chain in Poland. It will also give Animex opportunity to increase its production capacities to satisfy growing demand for its high quality processed meat products from Polish and foreign customers..
Transaction finalization is contingent upon, among other issues, the satisfactory completion of due diligence and receiving approval from UOKIK – Antimonopoly Office.
